Jennifer Stanford, PhD, professor in the Department of Biology at the Drexel University College of Arts and Sciences (drexel_coas) and co-director of the Center for the Advancement of STEM Teaching and Learning Excellence (CASTLE), believes in the power of experience. Stanford’s research explores how to improve STEM student retention and success.
An advocate for experiential learning, Stanford knows that students learn best through hands-on experience, in and outside of the classroom.
“Not only do students learn content and skills, these experiences can affect students’ perceptions of themselves and the world around them in ways that support their academic and career success,” shares Stanford.
“Drexel has so many opportunities for experiential learning through co-op, within the curriculum, and with extracurricular experiences like the STAR Scholars Program and study abroad. This is truly an advantage of the Drexel learning experience.”
