Amazon may be looking to reenter the world of wearables, but this time, it may be with an AI-focused product.
The company is buying a startup called Bee, which makes a fitness tracker-like device that records your everyday conversations to automatically create to-do lists, summarize your relationships, and set other reminders.
It’s not clear how much Amazon paid for Bee, but the company confirmed that all Bee employees were offered roles at the larger company.
Why would Amazon want Bee? It's likely looking to invest in the AI wearable space to complement its Amazon Echo speakers, Alexa assistant, and other AI projects. Over the last few years, we’ve seen the introduction of different AI wearables, such as the Rabbit R1 and Humane AI pin, but none of them have proven to be a runaway success.
