China will “maintain close communication” with Thailand and Cambodia to help cement a ceasefire agreement between the two nations, a foreign ministry spokesperson said.
Guo Jiakaun made the remarks when asked about Thailand military’s claim that Cambodia violated the ceasefire which came into effect at midnight.
Displaced residents have slowly begun moving back, a day after the two nations announced the truce to end five days of fighting at the border.
Leaders agreed to a ceasefire on Monday, to halt their deadliest conflict in more than a decade that has killed at least 40 people and displaced more than 300,000.
