Southern culture and historic racing go together like beer & BBQ and Luft 11 is your chance to celebrate it all. Durham’s own Lucky Strike (bearing a distinctive red top and white body) began sponsoring teams in 1972. Mild Seven, Rothmans, Camel and L&M were in the mix as well—trading paint as well as customers via some of the era’s fastest cars. Porsche played a role as well, smoking the competition in 1972 at the Kyalami 9-hours—where Driver Tony Adamowicz recorded the fastest lap in a freshly-assembled Lucky-sponsored 917. “The car had never turned a wheel when it came to the track,” Tony wrote in his report, “And I had never been to Kyalami.” All these Southern vibes will be culminating Oct 4th, 2025 at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham, NC. See you there. ✌️ #Luft11 📷: David Pearson / Staffan Berggren / Austin Brammer / Barrie Smith / Adamowicz Collection
