Morrison ’03 has been awarded the PROSE Excellence Award in Humanities by the Association of American Publishers for his groundbreaking book, Blacksound: Making Race and Popular Music in the United States.⁠ ⁠ In addition to receiving the top honor in humanities, Blacksound also earned the PROSE Category Award in Music and the Performing Arts, further establishing Dr. Morrison as a national thought leader in the intersections of race, music, and cultural history.
