When an iPhone walks by, it picks up the signal, encrypts the location, and sends it to Apple’s servers without knowing what it found. Only you can decrypt that location. It’s like crowdsourced GPS powered by hundreds of millions of Apple devices. They also use UWB (Ultra-Wideband) for precision finding if you’re nearby.
