A building designed for people and birds.
muhlenbergcollege 's Fahy Commons has been making headlines for its sustainable design, and rightly so. Net-zero energy. Living Building Challenge Core Certified. Passive House. LEED Platinum. The trifecta of green building standards.
But there’s one key achievement we’re especially proud of: zero bird collisions.
Feather Friendly markers were installed as part of this project, helping ensure that this building would not be a hazard to birds, even with prime habitat all around. In fact, since installation in 2022, not a single bird strike has been reported.
Designed in partnership with revisionarch and with guidance from leading bird-glass collision expert Prof. Daniel Klem, Jr., Fahy Commons shows what’s possible when architecture and conservation work hand in hand.
We're proud to be part of this milestone in bird-safe, sustainable architecture.
