It is estimated that less than 1% of the world’s population will run a marathon in their lifetime. 🏃♂️🏃♀️
Each year, around 1.1 to 1.3 million people finish a marathon worldwide. But since many runners do multiple races, the actual number of unique marathon runners is lower.
Based on global trends, researchers estimate that between 10 to 13 million different people ran a marathon between 2000 and 2022. That’s only about 0.13–0.16% of the global population running one each year, and most likely less than 1% total who will ever complete one.
Have you ran a marathon!? 🤔
