@Clinique’s Black Honey is often called the 'Universal' lip shade and while she’s definitely iconic for a reason, her novelty has always surrounded the fact that she works across all skin tones. It had us thinking maybe it’s time we talk about why the term universal shouldn’t and whether or not it should exist in beauty at all. Shoutout to @Monica Ravichandran for opening up this convo. The comment section of her video was really torn about the idea of this being "universal," and it got me thinking about the truth behind beauty which is that no single shade works the SAME on everyone, so is universal even relevant anymore? And yet, brands are still using “universal” in marketing when in reality it just doesn’t exist.
