At East Oakland Pride Elementary, we brought our Whole Child, Whole School philosophy to life by transforming spaces across the campus—from the library to the cafeteria—and creating environments where kids could truly thrive. Our Whole Child approach equips students with the resources and support they need to succeed, including access to nutritious food, high-dosage literacy tutoring, and sports. By transforming spaces for the Whole School, we’re ensuring equitable access to dignified, joyful places to eat, learn, and play, with upgrades to schoolyards, cafeterias, libraries, and gyms. This project was just the beginning of a movement to create schools where every child has the opportunity to flourish.
