Gender-based violence survivors deserve to be treated with dignity and respect when they approach the authorities for help. When they are denied such treatment, authorities can re-traumatize them once again and they and others are less likely to seek help from the authorities. This survivor’s experience at a police station in Khayelitsha, in South Africa’s Western Cape is just one example of the poor treatment they can face by officials. #16days #NoExcuse
