Congratulations to Rigo Salvatierra, a rising senior who has been named a Beinecke Scholar! He is one of only 20 students nationwide to receive this honor. 🎉 Driven by a desire to help others, Rigo began his academic journey thinking about biosciences, but the social justice movements of the pandemic led him to explore political science. His time at Rutgers broadened his horizons, showing him that politics was a vast field with many different areas of study. This led him to focus on international relations and border politics. As a first-generation student whose family immigrated from Guatemala, his work is deeply personal. This scholarship will empower him to continue his vital research and pursue his goal of advocating for immigration reform.
