Fail Big: The 1990 Hungarian Grand Prix got underway On This Day 35 years ago, after this familiar Friday sight that left Life driver Bruno Giacomelli with his eighth straight DNPQ. 😮‍💨   Throughout 1989, Ernesto Vita had tried to sell a three-bank 3.5 litre W12 engine concept to F1 teams without success, and eventually set up his own outfit, buying FIRST Racing's unused (unsafe!) 189 chassis and modifying the roll hoop to pass the FIA's crash tests. The Life L190 was heavy and slow, with a pitiful engine output of, at best, 470bhp. Giacomelli - brought in after Gary Brabham quit two rounds in - hadn't raced in F1 for seven years, and endured round after round of early exits, a litany of technical failures and shockingly slow laptimes...if he managed to complete a lap at all! 🧰   At the Hungaroring, the L190 managed a handful of laps before failing, TWENTY seconds slower than the next car. 🫣 . . . .   #F1 #OnThisDay #LifeL190 #ErnestoVita #BrunoGiacomelli #HungarianGP #Hungaria...
