Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve, who is openly lesbian, has spoken out against recent incidents of adult toys being thrown onto the court during WNBA games, calling the acts ‘the latest version’ of the sexualisation of women. Speaking to reporters Reeve stressed that such behaviour is ‘not funny’ and should not be treated as a joke in the media or by fans, adding that those responsible ‘should be held accountable.’ The incidents, which occurred in at least two games since 29 July, have been linked to a group of cryptocurrency enthusiasts claiming the stunt was intended to promote a cultural movement rather than be sexist.
