Around 3 years ago I tried sports photography for the first time & it changed my life. All it took was asking. I asked to come to the game. Then later I asked them to give me a job. After multiple years in this industry, experiencing other sports, teams, companies, etc. there is truly no where else I’d rather be right now. I used to think this team was just a stepping stone and that I’d leave it all behind when something bigger came along. I thought I wanted to move out of state, away from my family, friends, and my team. I quickly learned it’s not about how high up or how far you can go, but the people and places that treat you the best. To be completely honest, I often think about quitting sports as a whole due to comparing myself to other people and the big name teams/brands they work for. I’ve literally had other photographers laugh in my face when I talked about the team I work for because it isn’t a professional level team.
