On August 12 and 13, Canadians can catch one of nature’s most spectacular light shows: the Perseid meteor shower. The shower happens every summer when Earth passes through debris from Comet Swift-Tuttle, creating bright “shooting stars” and even the occasional fireball. ☄️ This year, the shower is active from July 14 to September 1, with peak viewing TONIGHT and TOMORROW. The best time to watch is between moonset and dawn, but you might spot meteors as early as 10 p.m! 🌌 Where to watch: Head to rural areas away from city lights for the best view, or visit a Dark-Sky Preserve. 💫 What to expect: Under ideal dark skies, the Perseids can produce 60–100 meteors per hour, but this year’s bright moon means you might see closer to 10–20 per hour. The show continues until August 23, so you can also try again later this month when the skies are darker! #YYCNow DM to be featured on yycnow 📲
