Rupy C. Tut’s (rupyctut) paintings are where memories of the past meet dreams of the future. Tut’s colorful paintings explore her identity as a woman, a mother, and an immigrant by reflecting on the past. She preserves and reinterprets the tradition of eighteenth-century Indian painting through her portrayals of women, landscapes, and ancestral figures.  Water and hands are two recurring motifs in her work. In her painting “A River of Dreams (2024),” the hands symbolize both nourishment and care, ensuring that dreams feel supported and not neglected, as well as representing strength and stability. Tut explains, “For me, going into the past is also about going forward in many ways.” Watch Tut’s discuss her art practice at the link in bio. 📍Rupy C. Tut’s work is featured in our 2024 SECA Art Award Exhibition on Floor 2. Free and open to the public! —  [Rupy C.
