On Thursday, August 14th, Stevenson University announced Ben Halford as the next head coach for the Mustangs’ women’s ice hockey program. Halford, a native of Lenox, MA, played four seasons in net at Princeton dressing in 19 career games with a .911 Save % and a 2.94 GAA. Upon graduating from Princeton, Halford played professionally in the SPHL and ECHL over the course of three seasons. He’d have stops with the Fayetteville Marksmen in the #SPHL and the Kansas City Mavericks, Atlanta Gladiators and the Jacksonville IceMen in the #ECHL. Shifting into coaching while shifting out of his playing career, Halford became a volunteer goaltending coach at Penn State from 2019-2023. In the same stretch starting in 2021, he’d be the goaltending coach for Wilkes University. Both schools would promote Halford to assistant coach starting in the 2023-2024 season as he’d hold that role for two seasons.
