Earlier this week, we spoke to Hampton University student Kennedi McKeever about how tracing her family history in Forsyth County Georgia, led to her winning a $40,000 scholarship from them.
đOn our
#HBSincenews segment , she told the story of how she used historical books such as â Blood at the Root racial cleansing in America by Patrick Phillips, which had interviewed her family after they were ran off by the night riders of Forsyth County.
Her family drove down to try to ask for reparations, but the court house had ripped out pages of the families that were ran off, so there would be no legal documents of the land that shouldâve been theirs . She wrote an essay on this to the county, which led to her being the first HBCU student to win this family of descendant scholarship.
