Abdo began the tournament as the No. 4292 ranked amateur in the world. He went on to finish as one of the top eight golfers in the championship. Along the way, the reigning miacathletics Rookie of the Year defeated three DI golfers in head-to-head match play: the No. 4 seed in the Round of 64, an All-Region athlete in the Round of 32, and a 2x Individual Big Ten Champion in the Round of 16.
