The Deportation Data Project, led by lawyers, professors and law students including several from Berkeley Law, has made immigration enforcement data more accessible. The database project was first launched as a website in March 2025. It obtains these datasets through Freedom of Information Act, requests to immigration agencies, including ICE and Customs and Border Protection. The information supplied to the project is individual-level data, meaning the data includes every act of enforcement by ICE, according to Graeme Blair, the deputy director of the project and a political science professor at UCLA, in an email.
