State Republican legislative leaders say they do not expect to pursue changes to Iowa's largest public pension fund despite an Iowa DOGE proposal. Terry Lutz, chair of McClure Engineering Co. and a member of the Iowa DOGE, said during an Aug. 6 meeting that the task force may suggest replacing the Iowa Public Employees' Retirement System with a defined contribution program. The task force was eyeing a recommendation to make IPERS changes for new public employees to address the large liabilities pension benefits create for the state. The idea has been met with bipartisan opposition, and public unions have resoundingly decried the possibility. Tap the link in our bio for more on this story. #Iowa #IApolitics #DOGE
