❗️Ford has stunned the performance world with its SuperVan 4.2, a 2,000-hp all-electric prototype that just set a blistering 6:48.393 lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, driven by Romain Dumas.
It wasn’t the Mustang GTD that took down the Corvette ZR1X’s record, but a van in disguise, which now holds the fastest van lap ever recorded and sits ninth overall in Nürburgring history, edging out Chevrolet’s 6:49.275 effort.
While it looks like a Transit on steroids, the SuperVan is essentially a purpose-built race car underneath, with quad electric motors, AWD, radical aero, and slick tires.
Ford positioned the run as both a showcase of its EV performance tech and a tribute to the late Sabine Schmitz, who famously hustled a stock Transit around the ‘Ring on Top Gear.
Though not road-legal or production-bound, the SuperVan demonstrates Ford’s commitment to electrified performance and serves as a test bed for future tech.
