Komodo dragons, the world’s largest lizards, have a fascinating mating system. During breeding season, males wrestle in fierce battles to win access to females. Once victorious, the male courts the female by licking and nuzzling before mating. Interestingly, females can also reproduce through parthenogenesis, a form of “virgin birth” where eggs develop without male fertilization. This unique ability ensures survival even in isolated environments. Typically, females lay 15–30 eggs, which hatch after around eight months of incubation. - #pubity #viral #intothewild #wildlife
