🇦🇪 Dubai just hosted the world’s first jet suit race, organized by Gravity Industries and the Dubai Sports Council. The event took place over a 1 km course above the Dubai Marina waters. Eight pilots competed using jet suits producing 1,500 horsepower from five turbines. The suits reached speeds of up to 128 km/h (79 mph), giving off real-life Iron Man vibes. Races ran in short 90-second heats with dramatic mid-air battles. Issa Kalfon, a former gymnast, won the final and lifted a golden turbine trophy. Emirati pilot Ahmed al-Shehhi crashed into the water but emerged unharmed with a thumbs-up. The spectacle mixed aviation engineering with motorsport-style competition.
