Good Morning, Friends!
When Taavi's mom didn’t naturally take to being a new parent, animal care specialists at Metro Richmond Zoo stepped up to hand-raise this precious Orangutan baby. Much like a human infant, he requires constant, round-the-clock care and supervision. In the wild, baby Orangutans like Taavi will spend the first six to eight months of life clinging to mom. And while they don’t stay with mom forever, young Orangutans remain with their mother for seven or eight years, learning all of the skills they will need to survive on their own.
