Cole Davies is now a moto winner in ProMotocross. At his second Pro Motocross race, Davies was running in the top ten when the race was red flagged before one full lap was complete. When the red AND red cross flags were both out, several riders were penalized for jumped the big uphill double after the mechanics’ area—most importantly to Haiden Deegan and Jo Shimoda.
Davies was second off the restart behind Tom Vialle, but took over the lead when Vialle tipped over. The
#100 eventually came through third behind Deegan and Shimoda, earning a podium in his third career moto. Then, the penalties were given: first, Shimoda’s penalty bumped the
#30 from second to third (Davies from third to second), then Deegan’s penalty bumped the
#1 from first to second, thus giving Davies first place.
Unfortunately, Davies was buried off the start of the second moto and finished 17th—the last position not to get lapped by race winner Deegan—for seventh overall.
