This is the immediate aftermath of two Israeli strikes on Nasser hospital in Gaza, which took the lives of at least 20 people including four journalists according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Two of the deceased journalists worked for the news agency Reuters, and one the Associated Press.
The United Nations has reported that at least 242 journalists have been killed in Gaza since the war began.
In a statement, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said it carried out a strike in the area and that the chief of the general staff had ordered an inquiry.
"The IDF regrets any harm to uninvolved individuals and does not target journalists as such,” said the statement. “The IDF acts to mitigate harm to uninvolved individuals as much as possible while maintaining the safety of IDF troops."
