EP 14. Recipe in Caption! What came first? The chicken or the egg? Rice Cooker Oyakodon is a classic in my household.
As usual the water to rice ratio may differ depending on the kind of rice you use! Cooking times may also differ depending on your rice cooker model.
My rice cooker is a 2 cups uncooked / 4 cups cooked size.
Ingredients
1 cup water
1/4 tsp dashi powder
3/4 c medium grain rice
1 tbsp mirin
1 tbsp soy sauce
4 oz chicken, dice (feel free to marinade if you want)
1/4 onion, thinly sliced
1 egg, beaten
1. Wash the rice.
2. Add rice, water, dashi powder, mirin, and soy sauce to the rice. Stir.
3. Evenly add the chicken on top of the rice, DO NOT STIR.
4. After 18-20 minutes drizzle the beaten egg on top of the chicken and rice.
5. Place the lid back on and let finish cooking
6. Stir together and season to tastewith salt, pepper, or soy sauce
