After a pandemic lull, the Harvard Undergraduate Automotive Society was having a difficult time gaining new members. But five SEAS capstone projects helped bring back the society and could lead to participation in the Formula SAE competition, an intercollegiate contest where students design, present, and race cars they built. The five different capstone projects included designing the rear suspension, building the chassis, working on aerodynamics, building the drivetrain, and working on steering and the front end of the vehicle. “There is still quite a bit of work to be done, but thankfully with the main infrastructure done, people can build on top of it," one student said. "Once the car is completed and running, and two years down the line when it's brought to competition, I think what's gonna be great is we're going to have these thesis reports where students can just optimize our designs.” #Harvard Photos by Matt Goisman/SEAS
