In the last 6–8 months, 300,000 Black women have lost corporate and government jobs. That’s not just a stat — that’s lives, families, and futures impacted. And it breaks my heart to hear stats like this.
Note: About 65-70% of MY employees are women in all my enterprises, and I’m proud of that.
That said, in the backdrop of all of this Black pain, and Black woman pain in particular, it really frustrates me when I hear of an entitled person like this, who so easily, so casually, wants to throw away and walk AWAY from a great corporate job — because of something as simple as them requiring a basic dress code.
Whether you’re in the gig economy, hourly work, salaried roles, or running your own business — you’re part of capitalism. Each comes with trade-offs: flexibility vs. stability, benefits vs. upside, security vs. risk.
Whatever lane you’re in, do it with excellence. As Dr. King said, “If you’re going to be a street sweeper, be the best street sweeper the world has ever seen.”
