❗️After nearly 18 years in production, the Nissan GT-R R35 has officially reached the end of its run, with the final example, a Premium Edition T-Spec in Midnight Purple, rolling off the line at Nissan’s Tochigi plant in Japan on August 26, 2025.
Nissan built around 48,000 R35 GT-Rs in total, making it the most prolific GT-R generation in the marque’s history.
Each of the R35’s “VR38DETT” twin-turbo V6 engines was meticulously hand-assembled by a dedicated team of only nine Takumi master craftsmen.
First launched in late 2007, the R35 redefined supercar-level performance by delivering advanced all-wheel-drive, a rapid dual-clutch gearbox, and blistering acceleration at a relatively attainable price.
Nissan’s CEO Ivan Espinosa emphasized that this is not a permanent farewell to the GT-R nameplate and that a new generation, possibly the R36, is still part of the company’s long-term plans, although no concrete timeline or design has been confirmed.
