Today is the anniversary of the ruthless murder of Emmett Till, who was only 14 years old when he was lynched by a racist mob in 1955.
For supposedly interacting "inappropriately" with a white woman in Deep South Mississippi, Emmett’s innocent life was taken after torture and a lynching that made him virtually unrecognizable. We are 70 years ahead of this gross atrocity, yet Black people today still face violence and death at the hands of the state and everyday people. This reality is what fuels Color Of Change to continue to stand up
#UntilJusticeIsReal.
To Emmett: You should have had the chance to grow older. Rest in peace.
