From the opening whistle the Whitecaps played with energy and precision, pressing high and dictating the pace of the game. The breakthrough came in the thirty fifth minute when Jayden Nelson’s sharp work on the flank found Emmanuel Sabbi in space. Sabbi calmly slotted the ball home after a clever touch from J C Ngando, sending the crowd into celebration. Just before halftime the hosts doubled their advantage.
