A band who have decimated Reading Festival every time they have been invited, 28 years between their first appearance and their return tonight, the number of people who have packed out the main stage feels like a solid gold demonstration of how the band’s unique brand of crossover heaviness has transcended generations. That’s even more prominent as the pits swell more and more with moshers of all ages, giving their everything for a violent ‘Break Stuff’ and swaggering ‘My Generation’.
