The cleats are hung up…but the shoes still fit. I played this game like most kids that love it do. For as long as it would let me. From three years old with a wiffle ball bat, all the way through college...Up until the game told me it was time to hang them up. It’s not an easy transition, and coaching was never in the plans. But those were my plans, not Gods. I coached for close to 15 years. I coached the three-year-old with the wiffle ball bat, my own daughter included…I’ve worked with big leaguers, and every age and level in between. The feeling of watching somebody you’ve helped succeed, no matter how big or small of an impact, fills my cup tenfold compared to the feelings of my own personal achievements. Giving the game and all its life lessons back, meeting athletes on their level, creating the relationship, and having somebody besides yourself to root for fills my heart with gratitude.
