❗️The man who shaped the modern GT-R doesn’t want its future to go fully silent.
Hiroshi Tamura, known as the “Godfather of GT-R,” says he personally hopes future GT-Rs keep a combustion-engine soundtrack.
Tamura clarified this is his own preference, not Nissan’s official plan.
He has also admitted a hybrid could be a realistic middle ground if customers accept it.
Nissan’s executives have hinted the next GT-R (R36) will likely arrive around 2030.
Current planning leans toward a plug-in hybrid pairing a twin-turbo V6 with electric motors.
That setup could deliver about 70 miles of electric-only driving while keeping GT-R power alive.
Fans can rest assured: Nissan leadership has confirmed the GT-R name will return in some form.
