🧠 Audi is the first car company to figure out how you can drive with high beams on all the time without blinding anyone—that’s the magic of its Matrix LED headlights. Each headlight is built from dozens of tiny LED segments that can be controlled independently. A forward-facing camera constantly scans the road for oncoming cars, pedestrians, and traffic signs. The system dims or shuts off only the LEDs that would shine into another driver’s eyes, leaving the rest of the road fully lit. This creates a moving “shadow” around other vehicles while maintaining full high-beam brightness everywhere else. The light pattern can also widen, narrow, or bend into corners depending on speed and conditions. Even reflective traffic signs get selectively dimmed so they don’t bounce light back at you.
