The American sits 13th on GC, and second in the white jersey classification, just 27 off the lead. “We didn’t know how hard the final climb was going to be because on paper, it wasn’t the hardest, but it ended up being a really tough pace from the bottom. “I have to be patient - there are a lot of longer, steeper climbs coming. I’d say on stage nine, in the first two Grand Tours I’ve finished, I’ve felt quite a bit more tired than I do now.
