Before Stonewall Columbus, there was a carnival company 🎡 The building was constructed in 1922 for the Crane Cigar Company, who sold cigars, candies, and chocolates. In 1953, it was sold to the Gooding Amusement Company, run by a lifelong amusement park man who began selling merry-go-round tickets at age 10. Here, his company provided rides to fairs and carnivals around the country. In 1976, the Addressing Machine & Supply Company moved in. They sold "addressographs", labelers, and other high-tech systems of the era. In 2004, stonewallcolumbus purchased the building and connected it to High St., which became its new entrance. Now the Stonewall Columbus Community Center, it serves as a “safe, welcoming, and affirming place for the diverse LGBTQ+ community”. Stonewall Columbus, founded in 1981 as Stonewall Union, organizes Columbus’ annual Pride Festival each June. #Columbus #Stonewall #PrideMonth
