I’ve had a ton of athletes reach out to me over the years about transferring, and it’s made me reflect on why I decided to leave RIT (before there was even a transfer portal).
The 3 main reasons were: academics, what I wanted for my career, and the type of environment I wanted to be surrounded by.
The environment at RIT was not necessarily what I had imagined, and a lot of that came from the coach who was there at the time. Even though I was first line defensive pair and getting plenty of minutes, I was still extremely unhappy.
After two years of sitting on it, I decided to make the jump, and it led me to meet some of the most incredible people I’ve ever known (plus a Beanpot Championship ☺️).
It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, but it pushed me to become a better person and teammate.
So if you’re thinking about making the jump, write a pros and cons list and then just do it because...
