U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson announced she will run for the U.S. Senate in 2026, becoming the first Iowa Republican to jump into the race after incumbent U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst announced she would not seek reelection. The news follows Ernst's announcement Tuesday Sept. 2 that, "after a tremendous amount of prayer and reflection," she would not run for a third term next year.
