😳 The Brutus is one of the most insane cars ever built—powered by a 47-liter V12 ripped straight out of an aircraft. It was created by the Sinsheim Auto & Technik Museum in Germany using a 1907/08 American LaFrance fire engine chassis. Under the hood sits the BMW VI V12, a 1920s water-cooled aircraft engine originally built for bombers, planes, and even railcars. The engine displaces nearly 47 liters and produces up to 750 horsepower and over 3,400 lb-ft of torque at absurdly low RPMs. Fuel consumption is ridiculous—about 1 liter per kilometer, or just over 2 mpg. Power is sent through a crude 3-speed chain drive with only a rear brake, making it more rocket than car.
