Once feared for its “grim reaper–like” appearance, a sculpture removed years ago is now getting a second look—thanks to the success of ”KPop Demon Hunters.“
Titled “Cheerful Korean Melody”, the piece was installed in Sejong City in 2014 but taken down after just five months, following complaints that it scared residents and harmed the public institution’s image. 😢
Now, with the Saja Boys making the grim reaper unexpectedly(?) popular worldwide, calls for its reinstatement are growing. 😅 The Government Complex Sejong Management Office has even said that if there’s enough public support, the statue could return.
If it does, it might just become the perfect example of “wrong then, right now”. Could this once-controversial piece, powered by the Saja Boys glow-up, turn into Korea’s next must-visit photo spot? 📸
