These Dalí sketches #FromTheVault reveal the artist’s vision for a Marx Brothers collaboration of epic proportions (spoiler alert: it doesn’t end well). Dalí was a longtime fan of the films and antics of the Marx Brothers. After meeting Harpo Marx in January 1937, the artist began working on a concept for a film referred to as both "La Femme Surréaliste" and "Giraffes on Horseback Salad." While the project never came to fruition, Dalí went so far as to sketch several scenes and write an initial storyline summary. See this and 100+ more of Dalí’s rarely shown drawings in our current special exhibition, “Where Ideas Come From: Dalí’s Drawings,” now through Oct 22, 2023.
