APU alumni Riley Burns ’25, Isaiah Chang ’25, and Nathanael Covarubbias ’25 launched their company, Phantom Pacer, after winning Zuventurez, a Shark Tank style competition hosted by the School of Business and Management, this spring. Originally created for their capstone project in a senior engineering class, the students found an existing product which helps track and cross country athletes pace and improve their running times, improved the product, created a business model, and pitched it to a group of entrepreneurially experienced judges. After winning the $4,000 first place prize for Zuventurez, the students secured an additional $100,000 in funding from a private investor to launch their business. “Learning how to jump into the deep end of entrepreneurship has been big for all of us,” Riley said. “We’re engineers learning to be businessmen. It's a lot of new territory for us.” Read the story at the link in our bio.
