π 'Neon Afterwords' is an immersive installation in which 7 sentences, written in fluorescent light tubes, float at different heights in the dark space of a room.
The sentences were chosen by the artist from 'The Ethnographer,' the short story by Jorge Luis Borges written in 1969 and published in the book 'In Praise of Darkness.'
The viewer, surrounded by the luminous words on display in the dark space with no suggested hierarchy of reading, can grasp their interaction and overlap by following a layering of meaning centered on perception and experience. The content of the sentences recalls the 'secret' gleaned by the Anthropologist in his experience of working in the field, and his refusal, upon returning, to explain it.
