Following a spring season in which Section 1 baseball prospered, having four teams reach at least the NYSPHSAA state semifinals, the area was recognized befittingly with 32 players earning all-state distinction from the New York State Sportswriters Association.
Mamaroneck's super-utility superstar Luke Reagins (pictured) received first-team honors after being named The Journal News/lohud Westchester/Putnam Player of the Year and being selected to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region team earlier this summer. The rising senior led Mamaroneck to the Section 1 Class AAA final.
Nick Mondesando, a Roy C. Ketcham outfielder, also was named a first-teamer. He led the rebuilding Storm to the Class AAA state final and also was voted to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region team.
