Tahir Murray, a 26-year-old Howard University graduate, is showing that generational wealth begins with vision, intention, and legacy. As founder of Legacy History Pride (LHP), a premium apparel brand celebrating HBCU culture and pride, Murray is carrying forward a family tradition rooted in his grandfather’s iconic New York City store, Von’s Sneakers, later known as The School of Hard Knocks, the first Black-owned retailer to carry Nike in the U.S.
What began as lessons in customer care and community has grown into a brand with more than 30 licensing agreements with HBCUs, including Spelman, Morehouse, and Howard. With collaborations alongside Nike, NASCAR, and Nickelodeon, LHP is proving that honoring legacy can also shape the future of culture and commerce.
