LSU dominated Southeastern Louisiana 56–10 in Baton Rouge, improving to 4–0. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier threw three touchdown passes and added a rushing score before exiting in the third quarter. The Tigers exploded for 28 points in the second quarter, building a 35–0 halftime lead. Backup Michael Van Buren Jr. added a fourth-quarter touchdown in his season debut.
LSU’s defense was suffocating, holding the Lions to just 30 total yards in the first half. Southeastern Louisiana’s lone touchdown came midway through the third quarter on a 14-yard pass from Carson Camp to Deantre Jackson.
The Tigers’ offense showed significant improvement, with 12 plays of at least 10 yards and their most first-half points since September 28 of the previous year. LSU will look to build on this performance as they head into SEC play.
